Notifications keep you informed about:
  • Comments on your guides
  • Reactions to your guides
  • Replies to your comments (coming soon)
  • @mentions (coming soon)
  • System announcements

Access all notifications via the bell icon in the navigation, or visit the API endpoint for unread count.

Managing Notifications

Mark as Read

  • Click on a notification to mark it as read
  • Or click Mark all as read to clear all at once

Delete Notifications

  • Remove individual notifications
  • Or clear all read notifications

Unread Count

The bell icon shows your unread notification count:
  • Red badge indicates unread notifications
  • Number shows exact count
  • Updates in real-time

Email Notifications

Choose what triggers email notifications:
  • New comments on your guides
  • Reactions received
  • Mentions
  • Weekly digest

  • Desktop notifications (browser permission required)
  • Sound alerts
  • Badge counts

Frequency

Set notification frequency:
  • Real-time: Immediate notifications
  • Digest: Bundled daily or weekly
  • Off: No notifications
Reduce noise: Consider digest mode if you receive many notifications

Each notification includes:
  • What happened: Clear description of the activity
  • When: Timestamp of the event
  • Who: User who triggered the notification
  • Where: Link to the related guide or comment

Notification Rules

Create custom rules:
  • Mute specific guides
  • Priority notifications from certain users
  • Keyword filters
  • Time-based rules (e.g., no notifications after 10 PM)

Privacy

Your notifications are private. Only you can see your notification history.

Notification Limits

Currently:
  • No limit: Unlimited notification history
  • Retention: Kept indefinitely
  • Auto-cleanup: None (manual deletion only)

Best Practices

  • Review notifications daily
  • Respond to comments promptly
  • Acknowledge feedback
  • Mark as read after viewing
  • Delete irrelevant notifications
  • Keep unread count low
  • Enable important notifications
  • Disable noise
  • Use digest for high-volume

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Notifications?

  1. Check your notification settings
  2. Verify email address
  3. Check spam folder
  4. Ensure JavaScript is enabled
  5. Try a different browser
